Do you import and/or export jewellery or watches? If YES, keep reading to learn more about the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the CBSA  Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) digital initiative.

WHAT IS CARM?

CARM (CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management) is the digital initiative that is changing how CBSA assesses and collects duties and taxes on commercial goods imported into Canada. In October 21, 2024, CARM will become the official system of record that importers and other trade chain partners must use to pay duties and taxes.

Don’t delay: Prepare for CARM TODAY!

IMPORTANT DATES

Register for CARM before October 4th at 4:00pm EDT.

From Oct 5th to 20th, the CARM Client Portal (CCP) will not be available (includes registering) during the transition period.

On October 21st CARM will be launched. You will be able to register if you haven’t already done so.

HOW TO PREPARE

  1. Register on CARM as soon as possible
  2. Add extra time when providing delivery expectations
  3. Plan ahead and order items ahead of the launch
  4. Get familiar with the platform by reviewing resources
  5. Plan and prepare for adjustments in workflow to adopt to new processes

5 STEPS TO REGISTER

  1. dentify your Business Account Manager (BAM).
  2. Have your company’s Business Number (BN9) and importer/exporter program account identifier (ex: RM0001) ready for Step
  3. Create a user profile within the CARM Client Portal (CCP).
  4. Input business name and address on the CCP to register your business.
  5. Answer the security questions.
