Do you have any reports that have to be filed with FINTRAC and you were unable to due to the FINTRAC cyber incident ?
Due to the March 2024 FINTRAC cyber incident, certain reporting functionalities were temporarily unavailable. FINTRAC has now confirmed that the deadline to submit backlog reports is March 31, 2025.
The affected reports may include:
- Large Cash Transaction Reports (LCTRs)
- Large Virtual Currency Transaction Reports (LVCTRs)
- Attempted Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs)
- Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs)
Failure to meet this deadline may result in enforcement actions, including
Administrative Monetary Penalties (AMPs), for late submissions without a valid justification.
Additionally, FINTRAC has clarified that submitting a Voluntary Self-Declaration of Non-Compliance (VSDONC) does not exempt you from these obligations.
